About
Caroline Bourrit (*1992) is an artist and curator. She lives and works between Neuchâtel and Bern (CH). Bourrit focuses her research on places, their stories and their conventions. She questions our relationship to space and our capacity for anticipation and discernment. Bourrit creates a dynamic between narratives and social norms, in search of their paradoxes. Language articulates the whole of her practice; she explores its potential for (de)construction through writing, performance or installation. Bourrit holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Dramaturgy and Text Performance (UNIL/La Manufacture, CH, 2023-2024) and a Master of Arts in Contemporary Arts Practice (CAP), specializing in literature and visual arts, from the Bern University of Arts (HKB, 2016-2018). She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts from the Geneva University of Arts (HEAD, 2013-2016), followed by an exchange at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm (2015 – KKH, SE). She is the 2021-2022 laureate of the Atelier Suisse art residency in Brussels (BEL) and the 2018-2019 laureate of the Neuchâtel art residency at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris (FR). She is co-founder and curator of the art space Espace Contact (Neuchâtel, CH, since 2023) and was co-curator of the Cabane B (Bümpliz/Berne, CH) from 2020 to 2022. She recently exhibited at Galerie Lange+Pult (Auvernier, CH); Centre d'art Pasquart (Biel/Bienne, CH); Centre d’art Neuchâtel (CAN, CH) and EAC Les Halles (Porrentruy, CH). Bourrit has also presented her projects in the context of exhibitions in public space, notably in collaboration with the city of Vevey (CH) in 2024 and soon with the city of Lausanne (CH) in 2025. Her work sometimes takes the form of readings or performance, presented among others at standard/deluxe (Lausanne, CH); Espace 3353 (Geneva, CH); Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac (Pantin, FR) and at La Villa Belleville (Paris, FR).
